It is a tradition that clubs take pictures of their players and staff before the start of each season, and in Poland also before the start of the spring round. Such photographs usually end up later in the season preview magazine of a given league.
Looking through the Season Preview magazine of the Polish First League (then Ekstraklasa) from the 1998/99 season, we may be slightly surprised when we find a section devoted to Odra Wodzisław. In the pre-season photo, one of the goalkeepers of the club from Bogumińska stadium, Grzegorz Tomala, poses for a photo in a Newcastle United shirt. It is difficult to answer why did he wear that jersey to be honest. Perhaps it was due to the lack of goalkeeper equipment in stock for one of the goalkeepers, and he simply put on his private sweatshirt, which he used for training. It must be admitted that the crest of Newcastle and their iconic sponsor "Newcastle Brown Ale" in the photo of the Odra Wodzisław team looks a bit bizarre.
