Chengdu Blades 2006 home (M)
Chengdu Blades 2006 home (M)
Very rare home jersey of the now defunct Chinese club Chengdu Blades.
The club was founded in 1996 as the Chengdu Five Bulls. On December 11, 2005, the club was bought by the then chairman of Sheffield United - Kevin McCabe. With the new owner, the name (Blades - the nickname of Sheffield United), colors and the club's crest changed. Chengdu won its first promotion to the Chinese Super League a year later.
The era of English owners in Chengdu came to an end in 2011. Financial problems and the match-fixing scandal resulted in Sheffield United withdrawing from China. From 2012, the club operated under the name Chengdu Tiancheng until its complete collapse in 2015.
