Sweden 1994-96 home (XL)
Home jersey used by the Swedish national team at the 1994 World Cup held in the USA. The Swedes were then placed in Group B, where they had to compete with Cameroon, Russia and Brazil. The team led by coach Svensonn did not lose a single game in the group stage and qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament with five points.
Sweden played Saudi Arabia in last 16, which they dealt with without any problems. Two goals from Kennet Andersson and one from Martin Dahlin were enough to send the Saudis home. In the quarter-finals, the team of Romania awaited the Swedes, which in the earlier round caused a huge surprise by eliminating the favored Argentina. The match was very evenly matched and ended in a 2-2 draw, so penalties were needed to determine the semi-finalists. These were better enforced by the Scandinavians, and the winning eleven was used by Henrik Larsson.
Sweden faced Brazil in the semi-finals at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in front of over 90,000 spectators. Henrik Larsson and the company fought as equals for a long time with the star-studded Canarinhos team, but in the end Romário's goal in the 80th minute of the match killed their hopes of a great World Cup final. Sweden was battling for third place.
Irritated by the defeat in the semi-final, they gave a real concert and did not give the Bulgarian national team the slightest chance in the clash for bronze. Thanks to the goals of Brolin, Mild, Larsson and Andersson, the Swedes won as much as 4:0 and achieved the greatest success since 1958, when they became the runners-up of the World.
